Evian Mineral Water

It is perhaps one of the best experiences as a faculty for me in the recent GOTA trip in Belgium and Paris. The journey was mix of sweet, adventure and learning. The eighteen days trip was a platform to learn, enjoy and experience. We had seminars and company visits in diverse fields from coal industry to wine, beer, chocolate, and perfume etc… students were attentive, courageous and enthusiastic than many other batches. The trip of eighteen days staying together with students has really provided very different experience than teaching the same student here in New Delhi.
The visits started with Port of Antwerp where there was a brief presentation about the port and its history. Here the students were explained the functions of the port, the different industries which have come up near the port. There was detailed discussion on the cargo handling and distribution done with respect to the petrochemical industry. Then the distribution of a French mineral water “Evian” was discussed.
The visits at Chocolaterie Jacques & Parfums Delforge were really liked by the students here we were mainly explained about the production of the chocolate: from the import of the cocoa beans to the export of finished chocolate. In the second half of the day we went to a perfume factory. There also we were concentrating on the production of some of the famous perfumes the world has ever produced. The next visit was to Katoennaite & Brantano. Katoennaite is a cargo handling company &we visited their site and saw how they handled the business and their future plans. Brantano is a retail company of shoes, there was an interactive session on how they succeeded in their business, their unique selling point of putting up stores out side the city.
Then we visited the European Parliament and the European Commission, we were informed about the political scenario of the European Union. The way the presidential elections are held and the macro political atmosphere of the countries of the European Union. The visit was to the Blegny Coal Mines where we were explained the reasons for the shut down of the coal mines. Then there was the visit to the bottling and distribution plant of the Coca Cola company in Belgium. All the students really liked the technology being used, the efficiency with which the work is carried on. The last was the visit a French champagne company Mercier in France where we were explained the production and storage of champagne
