Skin Care Institutes
New situation; Now what to do with my college funds?

This is a two part question. I have the florida prepaid college plan equal to four years college tuition. I would like to attend Aveda Institute, for cosmetology/skin care/massage but my mother is telling me that the florida prepaid will not cover that because it’s not a university. It is a 12 month program for the hair, nails, etc and then a 9 month program for the skin care. First I want to know if I really cannot use my florida prepaid for Aveda Institute?

If not, I would like to know if I can take some of the money out to buy a car. I need one badly to get my daughter to daycare and to get to and from work. I am so tired of taking the bus, it makes everything a pain and ruins my day sometimes on account of being late. Someone please give me some advice/facts?

Unfortunately, your mother is right about schools. Aveda is not listed here http://www.myfloridaprepaid.com/Plans/Approved_Colleges.asp?a=4

The Aveda Institutes in St. Petersburg and Tallahassee take federal (FAFSA) student loans. Contact your school to see if your program is eligible.

It seems clear from this http://www.myfloridaprepaid.com/Plans/FAQ/ FAQ page that you can’t buy a car with that money. Sorry about that.
