Surgical Medical Face

How To Prepare For A Facelift One of the first things that you must do in order to prepare for a facelift is to get evaluated. An evaluation will let you know whether or not you are a good candidate for this cosmetic surgery procedure. The surgeon will consult with you and go over your medical history. He or she will test your skin for bone structure, wrinkles and elasticity. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions that you have about the facelift procedure. The surgeon is there to assist you with any fears or concerns that you may have. They will also take photos of your face before the surgery. When you have decided to have the surgical procedure, get with the surgeon to schedule it. The surgeon will also provide a sheet of things you need to do prior to having the surgery. About two weeks before the procedure, you will have to stop taking aspirin, blood thinners and drugs that are anti-inflammatory and do not contain steroids. Taking these up to the time of the facelift can prove to be risky. They can increase the risk of bleeding while the surgeon is performing the procedure. The surgeon needs to know if you are taking any medicines on a regular basis. If you do have some, consult with your regular physician before you stop taking them. If you are a smoker, you will have to stop before you have the facelift. You should not smoke for at least a month before and a month after the surgical procedure. When you smoke, the flow or oxygen and blood to your face is reduced. If you don’t stop, your wounds can turn red and black. You could end up having another surgery to have a skin graft.

It’s important that you follow the pre-op instructions of the surgeon. If you want the surgery to be a success, you won’t deviate from what you need to do. Having a facelift is a major procedure. Any time that you try to compromise from making adjustments prior to a surgical procedure such as this one, you are asking for trouble. As long as you have made the necessary preparations as instructed by your surgeon, the facelift procedure should be a success. Your road to recovery and healing will not be very painful and uncomfortable to deal with. Properly preparing for this procedure can give you back the youth that you have been longing to have.
